What does Excellence with Humanity look like in your work with students?
For me, Excellence with Humanity is having high standards for my students while also meeting them where they are and supporting them through the challenges they encounter in the learning process.
What’s your favorite project to teach?
I really like the semester-long projects in my engineering and robotics classes each spring. This allows students to really dig into more complex challenges and gives them room to take risks. Often, their first ideas don’t work, or need significant modification. A semester-long project affords them the time to actually engage with the iterative design process and engage with significant challenges.
