Coach Pipe joined Rivers in 1998 and serves as Associate Director of Athletics and head coach of both the boys’ varsity soccer and girls’ varsity basketball teams. He has led the boys’ soccer program to four NEPSAC Championships, an ISL Championship, and coached two NSCAA All-Americans. On the basketball court, Coach Pipe’s teams have won three NEPSAC titles and won at least 20 games in five straight seasons. More than 30 of his players have gone on to play at the college level. In addition to his athletics responsibilities, Coach Pipe serves as an advisor to students in Grade 9 and 10.
Mr. Thomas Bourdeau
Associate Director of Athletics, Varsity Football Head Coach
Tom comes to Rivers from Marian High School in Framingham, where he served as Athletic Director. Prior to his time at Marian, Tom coached football at the college level, serving as head assistant coach at Stonehill College for five years, during which time he managed the recruiting process for the football program and ran various components of on-field play. He left Stonehill for Boston College, where he served as a graduate assistant in the football program and helped run the BC summer high school football camps. Tom has facilities experience from his role as an Athletic Director, and will also serve as Rivers’ rink manager and facilities assistant. A self-described “kid-first” educator, Tom will bring his brand of connection to our football program as head coach. Tom earned his B.A. in Administrative Studies from Colby College and later an M.A. from Boston College.
Ms. Donahue joined Rivers in 2000 and serves as head coach of the varsity girls’ soccer and lacrosse teams, and as Assistant Dean of Upper School Students. Prior to Rivers, Coach Donahue coached soccer collegiately at both Boston College and Brown University and was a standout lacrosse player at Boston University. Under Coach Donahue, the Red Wings have won four NEPSAC and three ISL Championships on the soccer field.
Mr. Shawn McEachern
Assistant Director of Athletics, Varsity Boys’ Ice Hockey Head Coach
Coach McEachern was a Hobey Baker finalist and an All-American at Boston University, where he tallied 186 points in three seasons. He spent 13 years in the NHL, amassing 254 goals and 317 assists, and winning the Stanley Cup in 1992 as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also played for the 1992 US Olympic Team, as well as the 1991 US National Team at the World Championships in Finland. A native of Waltham, he previously served as an assistant coach at UMass-Lowell, Northeastern, and Salem State University. Under his leadership, the Rivers boys’ hockey team has won two Eberhart titles and advanced to the post-season twice, as well.
Noah joins the Athletic Department as assistant trainer. With a B.S. in athletic training from Bridgewater State University, Noah also is Massachusetts-licensed and BOC-certified as an athletic trainer, and Red Cross-certified as a professional rescuer. Before coming to Rivers, he was the head athletic trainer at the Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School in Devens, MA as well as a trainer at Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton, MA. He has extensive experience as a lifeguard and serves as a first responder in the town of Berlin, MA.
