Travis Roy Speaks at Rivers

Travis Roy spoke at Rivers’ monthly assembly program.
Travis Roy spoke at Rivers’ monthly assembly program on November 20, 2003. Roy talked about his 10 values for success and how the values of pride, setting goals, love, respect, family, and friends helped him achieve his dream of obtaining a hockey scholarship.

On October 20, 1995, only eleven seconds into the first shift of his college hockey career at Boston University, Roy’s dream was cut short when he shattered his fourth cervical vertebra, severely damaging his spinal cord. Travis has faced his disability with the same sense of optimism and determination that distinguished his hockey career. A May 2000 graduate of Boston University with a degree in public relations, he is a popular motivational speaker. In 1998, he published a book, “Eleven Seconds,” based on his life.
