Members of Rivers’ Track and Field team competed Saturday in the ISL championship meet at The Governor’s Academy, and retained their titles in several key events. Myles Epstein ‘19 won the 100 meter (in 10.95) and 200 meter (in 22.56) for the second year in a row, and also won the long jump (21’8”). Samirah Moody ’21 successfully defended her 2017 title in the women’s 100 and won the 200 meter with times of 12.49 and 26.48, respectively. Myles also earned the ISL Coaches Award for outstanding Track and Field Athlete of the tournament.
Nic Stathos ’18 finished in 6th place in a very fast 1500 meter race (the winner set a meet record). Rohan Dhir ’18 (’18) finished 4th in the high jump with a jump of 5’10”, while Caleb Leeming ’19 finished in 6th place with a jump of 5’8”. Overall the boys finished in 6th place with a score of 36 points.
In addition to Samirah’s first place finishes, Addy Vettel ’20 finished 3rd in the women’s 1500 with a time of 4:42.21. Caroline Grape ’18 finished 5th in the 800 (2:32.32) and 6th in the 1500 (5:06.23). Sara Stephenson ’18 finished 3rd in the 3000 (10:47.83). Overall, the girls finished in 8th place with 35 points.
