Rivers Names Dana Trivigno Varsity Girls’ Ice Hockey Coach

Director of Athletics Bob Pipe has named Dana Trivigno the next head coach for varsity girls’ ice hockey at The Rivers School.

Coach Trivigno comes to Rivers after wrapping up a successful collegiate career at Boston College in 2016, where she helped the Eagles reach the NCAA Frozen Four in 2013 and 2015, win the 2014 and 2016 Beanpot Tournament Championships, and served as team captain in 2015-16. She has also represented the United States as a member of the USA Women’s National Team, winning gold medals at the 2011 and 2015 World Championships.

“We are thrilled to add someone with Dana’s experience and energy to our girls’ hockey program,” Pipe said. “She’s seen the game from every angle – player, coach, official – and can pass that perspective on to our student athletes. She’s committed to excellence on the ice, which makes her a great teacher of the game.”

Since graduating, she has worked with the Boston Junior Whalers as Girls Hockey Director where she was in charge of coordinating events and operations for the entire hockey program. She has also been a skills instructor for RB Hockey and is a certified USA Hockey/Hockey East Association Official. Trivigno is a 2012 graduate of Shattuck-St. Mary’s Prep School in Faribault, Minnesota and was inducted into the Cum Laude Society.

“Rivers has a great staff and group of kids willing and motivated to get better in all aspects of things,” Coach Trivigno said. “I’m very excited to get the season going!”

The Rivers girls’ ice hockey program has consistently been one of the best teams in New England since it was established in 2004-05. The Red Wings have reached the NEPSAC Division II finals three times and claimed a New England Championship in 2015. Notable alumni include Coach Trivigno’s Boston College teammate Erin Connolly ’15, fellow Team USA forward Jillian Dempsey ’09 (Harvard), and Colgate University forward Ellie DeCaprio ’14.
