MS Select Chorus Takes First at Music in the Parks

The Middle School Select Chorus once again traveled to western Massachusetts to perform at the Music in the Parks Festival at Six Flags New England and placed first in its division.

In addition to finishing first in the Middle School division, the ensemble received its first ever “superior” rating from the judges. They were judged on tone quality, intonation, diction and pronunciation, note accuracy and rhythmic precision, and musicality.

"I knew from the first class meeting this fall that this was going to be a special ensemble -- one with a great deal of enthusiasm and passion for not only singing, but making music,” said Middle School Chorus Director John Bower. “I wanted to challenge them with some difficult repertoire, and I was incredibly picky during rehearsals because I knew this group was entirely capable of receiving a superior rating at the festival. I couldn't be more proud!"

The chorus performed Little Lamb and Celebrate With Jubilant Song for the judges after warming up with Seasons of Love; and they will perform all three songs on May 21 at Arts Night. Ella Caggiano ’19 was awarded the Outstanding Soloist award for the Middle School division.

The MS Select Chorus members are Schuyler Bartlett ’21, Nora Brown ’19, Ella Caggiano ’19, Natalie Hall ’19, Callie Hilinski ’20, Caleb Leeming ’19, Maggie Leeming ’21, Hannah Long ’21, Colette Meier ’19, Maggie Monaghan ’19, Henry Muller ’19, Brooke Nelson ’20, William Reale ’21, Braden Sheinkopf ’19, Riya Shukla ’19, Rebecca Stachel ’19, Margo Sugarman ’20, Logan Taylor-Black ’20, Grace Wade ’19, Madeline Wambach ’21, and Eli Wasserman ’21.
