Alumni Council Welcomes Joshua P. Gold ’89

Josh Gold was elected to The Rivers School Alumni Council at the Reunion 2007 dinner in May. Josh, who played golf at Rivers and was the recipient of the team’s Charles R. Metchear III Award in 1989, has been an active supporter of The Rivers School Golf Tournament since its inception. He is also serving on the newly formed Alumni Council Financial Aid Committee which oversees the disbursement of the money raised by the tournament for the Alumni Financial Aid Fund.

“I am very excited about joining the council,” said Josh in a recent interview. “Rivers has evolved significantly over the past several years, and it’s with great pride that I have the opportunity to participate with other alumni to help shape the future of our school.”

This year, Josh also spearheaded the establishment of the Richard Keshian Memorial Fund at Rivers and has helped raise $40,000 in gifts and pledges to date in memory of classmate Richard Keshian. He plans to continue his efforts to grow this endowed financial aid fund.

“I wanted to create the Keshian Fund to honor my close friend and classmate,” said Josh. “The fund is designed to provide assistance to students in need as an honor to someone whom I think embodied the spirit and vigor of our campus. Rich was a wonderful presence and his later success highlighted his growth during his high school experience. I can only hope kids who share in this Rivers experience learn as much about lifelong friendships as they do about thinking critically and writing coherently!”

Josh earned a B.A. in government and law from Lafayette College in 1993, and spent his junior year abroad at the University of London. He joined Bear Stearns & Co. after graduation where he focused on middle market sales and trading within their equity division. He later went on to work for Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette and subsequently, Goldman Sachs. At Goldman, Josh developed a team that managed the hedge fund coverage platform in Boston.

In 2004, he joined the boutique primary research firm, DeMatteo Monness LLC as a partner. He now co-manages the firm out of Boston. DeMatteo Monness provides access for public and private equity investors to a network of industry experts globally from offices in New York, London and Shanghai. Josh lives in Wellesley with his wife Rebecca and their children, Max and Alex.
