Rivers Students Selected for Senior District Music Festival

Eleven Rivers students were recently selected to perform at the Eastern Massachusetts Senior District Music Festival this Saturday at Boston Latin School.

Eleven Rivers students were recently selected to perform at the Eastern Massachusetts Senior District Music Festival this Saturday at Boston Latin School.


The festival is offered by the Massachusetts Music Educators’ Association as a music enrichment opportunity for talented students. Students auditioned in the fall to perform in the Senior District Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, or Chorus. The honorees will rehearse with guest conductors and then perform on Saturday, January 9. The jazz band and chorus are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., while the orchestra and concert band will be playing at 3 p.m.


The following students were selected to take part in the event:


Chorus: Melissa Benjamin ’11, Luke Flood ’12, Benjamin Marcus ’11 and David Tackeff ’10


Orchestra: Alexander Andonian ’13, Melanie Snider ’12, and Anna Teng ’11


Jazz Band: Alex Adach ’10, Anthony Burzillo ’11, Tom Chalmers ’10, Ross Hoyt ’10


In addition, Adach, Andonian, Burzillo, Chalmers, Flood, Hoyt, Marcus, Snider, Tackeff, and Teng also received recommendations to audition for the All-State Festival on January 23.
