Under blue skies and brilliant sunshine, more than 100 parents, alumni, and other members of the Rivers community participated in the 9th annual Rivers School Golf Tournament at the Charter Oak Country Club in Hudson. In addition to raising a significant amount of money for financial aid, the event also provided a unique opportunity for the Rivers community to reconnect. Featuring 18 holes of golf and both a live and silent auction, the tournament was a huge success, with a full field of entrants participating in what has become a wonderful Rivers tradition.
The day’s events were orchestrated by the Rivers Golf Tournament Committee, led by chair Matt Tobin ‘90, in conjunction with Charter Oak Country Club, owned and operated by the Daley family (Pat Daley ’84 P’13 and his brother Fred P’12 P’14), who generously donated the golf course for the day. The tournament garnered approximately $91,000 for the Alumni Financial Aid Fund, which provides tuition assistance to qualified Rivers students. Last year, the fund helped support four outstanding students at Rivers.
Director of Alumni Programs Christina Grady expressed gratitude and amazement at the support that the Rivers community provided in the midst of the current economic climate. “Many thanks to Matt Tobin and the Golf Tournament Committee, along with the Daley family, our tournament sponsor Bill Whittemore ’69, and our corporate sponsor Cohn & Dussi and Lewis Cohn ’81. People really came out in full force and supported the school and all that it does for financial aid,” she said. “It was great to see so many faces – both new and old – at the event.”
