The girls’ team, after completing an impressive 12-1-2 season and earning a piece of the I.S.L. championship title for the second year in a row, landed the number one seed in this year’s NEPSAC Tournament. The girls will play the Kingswood-Oxford School at Rivers on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
This is the sixth consecutive year the girls have made the tournament. The team is also hoping to make 2007 the third consecutive year as New England champions. This year, the team has moved up a class to Class B where they will face teams from larger schools.
Head Coach, Susanna Donahue, reflected on the season: “We feel well prepared going into the tournament since we have played and successfully competed with the top teams in the I.S.L.”
Rivers’ boys’ soccer is also headed to the New England Class B Tournament this week following a their 9-5-2 season. As the number six seed, Rivers will play Wilbraham and Monson in Wilbraham on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
Junior powerhouse, forward Charlie Rugg, finished second in the I.S.L. for points with 20 goals and two assists which also earned him a tie for the most goals scored in the league. Junior Eric Anderson was fifth in the league for scoring with seven goals and seven assists.
