As Director of Facilities, Don showed deep respect and caring for the members of his department. During his tenure he served on the Facilities Committee and helped to oversee the expansion and renovation of the physical plant at Rivers. He was also an integral part of Rivers' transformation to a coeducational school. In addition, Don developed and built the Project Adventure Ropes Course on the Camp Nonesuch grounds. Prior to working at Rivers, he was a foreman in the Local 51 Bricklayers' Union for 17 years.

While Don thoroughly enjoyed and took great pride in his work at The Rivers School, he always said his greatest achievement in life was being a husband, father, and grandfather to his family. Don leaves his wife Elaine; his children Donald III, Tyler and wife Rebecca, Tiffany and husband Christopher, and Kristopher; and his grandchildren Isabella, Jack, Christopher, and Benjamin.
