Alumni Come Together for 21st Annual Rivers School Golf Outing

The 21st annual Rivers School Golf Outing brought together more than 120 golfers at the Charter Oak Country Club in Hudson on May 1. After a week of heavy rain, the sun made an appearance on the designated day, and Rivers alumni, parents, faculty, and friends enjoyed their time on the links.
Thanks to the Daley family—Stacey and Pat Daley ’84, P’13, ’15, ’18, and Tina and Fred Daley P’12, ’14, ’16—the use of Charter Oak was generously donated once again. Matt Tobin ’90, one of three alumni who launched this tradition, said it best: “The Daleys have provided members of the Rivers community with countless memories over the years. We truly appreciate their generosity.” He added, “It was really impressive to see so many younger alumni play in this wonderful event. I hope that trend continues.”

This year, Rivers remembered longtime golf player and sponsor Cary Corkin ’69, who passed away in August 2022. Corkin was a fixture at this event from its inception and always made sure to bring two foursomes that included family members and colleagues. Said Corkin’s son Matt, “My dad loved all things Rivers, but this was his all-time favorite event.” Matt and those two foursomes were back this year to play in his honor.

Younger alumni, who have started to turn out in greater numbers in recent years, showed up to challenge some of the formidable veteran groups. The foursome of Nick Sia, Trevor Davock, Steve Richlen, and Ben Rogers, all from the Class of 2015, took home first place, shooting 17 under for the round. Second place went to Roy MacDowell ’96, Steve Baldini ’96, Brian Maranian ’96, and Rich Fischer, while the group of Scott Barchard ’06, Ernie Lupi, Chris Czarnota, and Matt Horlacher rounded out the top three.

Rivers would like to thank the golf committee, made up of 12 alumni and current parents who meet throughout the year to plan the tournament and make this day possible. Save the date for our 22nd annual golf outing on Monday, May 6, 2024.
