Faculty Talk: "Rivers in Two Pandemics"

In May 2020, history teacher and Rivers archivist David Burzillo presented an online talk titled "1918 and 2020: Rivers in Two Pandemics." Burzillo, a 30-year veteran of the Rivers faculty, took an in-depth look at Rivers during the influenza pandemic of 1918 and assessed how the impact of that pandemic compares to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Burzillo teaches the interdisciplinary course “Pathogens, People, and Poverty,” which explores the biological, historical, and ethical dimensions of infectious disease.
