MIDDLE SCHOOL
Students get their first exposure to community engagement during their Middle School years. Following are examples of some of the opportunities afforded our Middle School students.Community engagement in the Middle School:• The Natick Service Council: Students help to sort and shelve groceries, as well as collecting items during school-wide drives.
• The Open Door is a meals program in Natick serving elders and those seeking community. The sixth-grade math classes prepare and serve meals as part of the curriculum, and the whole middle school participates in preparing occasional dinners.
• The middle school helps to provide lunches for the shelter at
Bristol Lodge. in Waltham.
The Community Service Club makes visits to those places they choose yearly: animal shelters such as
Buddy Dog; elder care homes such as
Wingate in Needham; the Cathedral Soup Kitchen at the Cathedral on the Common in Boston; farm volunteering at
Natick Community Organic Farm and
Land’s Sake in Weston; we help to maintain trails through the
Keep Natick Beautiful, rake leaves for elders through the
Natick Council on Aging, and many more activities.
