Excellence with Humanity
Rivers sets high standard and expects students to participate actively in their learning. Whether in our innovative, multidisciplinary middle school program, or the college-preparatory program of the Upper School, our faculty cultivate a rigorous yet collaborative environment that encourages student performance and demonstration of logical thought, an informed and articulate voice, a creative vision and strength of character. We believe strongly that the role of our faculty is not merely to show students the solution but to help them discover it for themselves.

Middle School at Rivers

The Rivers Middle School brings together enthusiastic, caring teachers and a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere in its goal of educating early adolescents. With generally 120 students in grades 6, 7, and 8, the Middle School offers a personal, integrated, and exciting program, creating a community of learners in which young people feel comfortable taking intellectual risks and growing both as students and individuals.

Upper School at Rivers

Education in the Upper School emphasizes the importance of developing students who can think critically and analytically, write logically and incisively, and speak articulately and convincingly. The curriculum includes traditional academics, along with the infusion of arts and athletic requirements. As students move through the program, a diverse offering of electives becomes available, allowing students to create an academic schedule that best reflects their interests, expertise, and passions.

“Our faculty’s enthusiasm, high standards, and genuine caring for each child represent an invitation to our students to test themselves and begin the process of discovering passions”
