Sam Vandergrift teaches math in the Middle School, coaches Middle School cross country and softball, and is the seventh grade girls leadership co-coordinator. Sam enjoys making math accessible, fun, and relevant to the real world. Sam holds a BA in economics and Japanese from Middlebury College. She earned an MEd in teaching secondary mathematics at Harvard University.

Andrea Villagran teaches both French and Spanish and is the trip program director and IDS committee chair. Prior to joining Rivers, she taught at The Gordon School in East Providence and The Rumson Country Day School. Andrea is an inveterate world traveler who grew up in Guatemala; she brings the world and its cultures to our classrooms in both the Middle and Upper Schools. Andrea earned a BA in French and political science from Wellesley College and an MA in French civilization, culture, and society at Middlebury College.
