    Kevin Faherty is an experienced educational leader and licensed math and science teacher who joined Rivers after teaching middle school mathematics at Wellesley Middle School for five years. Prior to teaching in Wellesley, Kevin spent seven years at St. Joseph Prep, where he taught mathematics and held the additional roles of director of marketing and communications, as well as assistant director of admission. Kevin also brings industry experience that includes managing marketing for major brands such as ESPN and Verizon. He holds a B.S. and an M.Ed. from Boston College and an M.B.A. from the University of Oregon.

    Cathy Favreau joined the Rivers faculty in the fall of 1999. She teaches sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Latin. Cathy's passion for Latin and Roman culture has led her on overseas trips to visit Roman sites in Italy, Greece, Britain, Portugal, and southern France. She also co-directed the Middle School drama production for eight years. She is the costume designer for all theater productions. Cathy was the recipient of the Mida van Zuylen Dunn Award for Teaching in 2003 and the F. Ervin Prince Teaching Chair in 2011. She earned a BA in Latin and Greek at Vassar College and an MAT in Latin and classical humanities at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

    Lourdes Fernández graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in psychology and a minor in Spanish. Her 14-year teaching career began at Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, where she taught both Spanish and French. Since then, she has taught at Tower School in Marblehead and Buckingham Browne & Nichols in Cambridge, where she again taught Spanish and French, in addition to leading the Middle School Languages Department for five years. Lourdes loves traveling, learning about different cultures, nerding out on linguistic and grammatical structures and patterns, and sharing these with her students. In June 2024, Lourdes graduated from Memoir Incubator, an MFA-level writing intensive, at GrubStreet, during which she completed and polished her first book. When Lourdes isn’t teaching or writing, she is practicing real estate, dancing, or adventuring outdoors.

    Sarah Freeman is the Middle School dean of students, teaches science in the Middle School, and serves as a Middle School advisor. She has a BS from Bowdoin College, where she majored in biology and minored in education studies, and a MA in independent school leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College. Sarah assistant coaches girls' varsity field hockey and coaches Middle School girls' lacrosse.

    Yoshi Fujita teaches science in the Upper School and is the head coordinator of the robotics program. He has a BS degree in electrical engineering from Brown University and previously taught at Mystic Valley Regional Charter School, where he implemented an IB physics curriculum. He has also worked at Cisco Systems as a hardware diagnostics engineer and was a Taekwondo instructor and coach for students at both Harvard and Brown Universities.
