Three Red Wings Sign National Letters of Intent

The end of the fall athletic season at Rivers features one day where all eyes are turned to the future. The National Letter of Intent Signing Day is recognized at high schools across the country and this year Rivers had three student athletes sign for Division I athletic programs: Courtney Day ’18, Shannon Daley ’18, and Caroline Phelps ’18.

Courtney and Caroline have been two key components of the girls’ lacrosse program over the last three years, helping the Red Wings to a 28-16 record. In 2015, they helped Rivers set a new program record for wins with an 11-3 record.

Courtney’s presence on the defensive end of the field has helped anchor the Red Wings defense. Courtney will continue her lacrosse career at Colgate University next year.

Caroline, meanwhile, does her best work in the offensive zone. Last spring, Caroline scored 32 goals and added 17 assists while earning her second All-League honor and was named a US Lacrosse All-American. Caroline will continue her lacrosse career at Villanova University next year.

Shannon has seen her role with the Rivers field hockey team grow each year and is enjoying her finest year so far. As of November 9, Rivers is 51-18-2 with two New England Championships (2014, 2015) with Shannon at the heart of the midfield. Shannon will continue her field hockey career at Northwestern University next fall, where she will join former teammate Kaitlin Wood ’17.
