Kaitlin Wood '17 Named ISL Player of the Year, Headlines Fall Athletic Awards
The varsity field hockey team’s incredible performance on the field this year led to a new program record for wins, while senior captain Kaitlin Wood ’17 earned both Independent School League Player of the Year and Boston Globe All-Scholastic honors.
With Kaitlin at the heart of the Red Wing midfield, the varsity field hockey team finished the season with a program-record 16 wins and earned the top seed in the NEPSAC Class B Tournament in its first year. The senior captain, who recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Northwestern University next fall, scored 5 goals and added 23 assists in her final season as a Red Wing.
“Kaitlin is the heart and soul of our Rivers field hockey program and a huge reason for our success this year,” said Varsity Field Hockey Coach Janna Anctil. “Her knowledge and commitment to the sport and exceptional skills combined with her leadership has been wonderful to watch. To be recognized by the other coaches in our highly competitive league as the ISL Player of the Year is an outstanding achievement and a phenomenal end to her high school career.”
Kaitlin also received ISL All-League and NEPSAC All-Tournament honors and received the team’s Red Wing Award.
