Middle School Select Chorus Takes First Place at Music in the Parks

The Middle School Select Chorus spent this past Saturday at Six Flags New England in Agawam, Mass., but they weren’t there to ride the rollercoasters – at least not right away. The ensemble competed in the annual Music in the Parks Festival and earned first place in its division.

In addition to finishing first in the Middle School division, the Select Chorus also received a “superior” rating from the judges for the second consecutive year. In order to receive this rating, a choral group must score highly in tone quality, intonation, diction and pronunciation, note accuracy and rhythmic precision, and musicality.

The chorus performed “I Ask For One Day” by Jim Papoulis and “Electricity” by Elton John, reprising outstanding performances from Middle School Arts Night on May 17. In addition, Jason Saperstone ’21 received an Outstanding Soloist award for the Middle School Division.

The MS Select Chorus members are Schuyler Bartlett ’21, Callie Bloom ’20, Lilly Branka ’20, Emma Braudis ’22, Aleen Brennan ’20, Ian Brown ’22, Avery Caggiano ’21, Isabelle Canty ’22, Reid Capello ’21, Jack Duffy ’21, Maddie Foley ’22, Sydney Greer ’20, Keira Harder ’22, Callie Hilinski ’20, Maggie Leeming ’21, Hannah Long ’21, Aisha Mahamud ’20, Anna Miller ’22, Anna Monaghan ’22, Brooke Nelson ’20, Saige Pereira ’21, Shay Pipe ’22, Eric Rosenblum ’21, Shamila Santana ’21, Jason Saperstone ’21, Margo Sugarman ’20, Logan Taylor-Black ’20, Theo Teng ’22, Keira Thompson ’22, and Maddie Wambach ’21.
