Conservatory Program Ensemble Earns MICAA Gold Medal

The Conservatory Program Vocal Ensemble earned a Gold Medal from the Massachusetts Instrumental & Choral Conductors Association Small Ensemble Festival on Saturday, May 14, at Concord Carlisle High School.

The MICCA Festival is not a true competitive environment. The adjudicators instead award ensembles with one of four ratings based on their established standards: Participation, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The eight-person Vocal Ensemble comprised of students in The Rivers School Conservatory Program received the highest possible rating, earning rave reviews from the judges.

“It is exciting to work with this dedicated group of singers,” said Choral Director Susan Emmanouilidis. “Their continued success at reaching such a high level of artistry is the result of the thoughtful collaboration between the eight singers. They are attentive to each other and make artistic decisions as an ensemble to create an impressive and refined blend of sound.”

Michaela Francesconi ’18, Nazeli Hagen ’17, Natalie Hall ’19, Izzy Hardy ’18, Thabi Khumalo ’17, Joe Nedder ’18, Victoria Nedder ’16, and Jianna Voghel ’17 make up the Conservatory Program Vocal Ensemble.

The Conservatory Program provides student musicians with the faculty, classes, and performance opportunities they need to grow as musicians as well as a rigorous academic experience — without ever leaving The Rivers School campus.
