Jack Kolis '16 Earns Costello Award, Winter ISL Awards Announced
Jack Kolis ’16 may not have been at the top of many scouting reports heading into his senior season with the Rivers football team this fall. However, his three-touchdown performance in a 42-40 win over Dexter on September 26, combined with an outstanding final season overall, earned him the Coach Paul F. Costello Courageous Player Award.
The Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association gives this award to several players throughout the state who have “played physically challenged, endured a hardship, or served as an inspiration to their team. The player nominated must have demonstrated teamwork, spirit, and sportsmanship while playing above and beyond.”
A four-year player for the football team, Jack was nominated for the award by coach Tom Bourdeau because his passion for the game of football and his dedication to the team throughout his career served as an inspiration to his teammates.
Jack and the other 12 recipients will be honored at the annual MHSFCA Awards Banquet later this spring.
