Former Red Wings Earn Conference Recognition at College Level

The weather may be cooling down, but fall sports action is just heating up for colleges across the country. As teams head for the home stretch of their seasons, several Rivers alumni have hit their stride with goals, assists, and touchdowns for their respective colleges.
 
Declan McCabe ’14, Georgetown University Men’s Soccer
 
Declan scored a goal and added two assists to give Georgetown a 3-0 victory over then-No. 15 Butler University on October 6. His performance earned him BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors – a career first for Declan and a season-first for the Hoyas.
 
Over the last four years, Declan has made 40 appearances for the Hoyas, scored three goals and handed out four assists. He has earned BIG EAST All-Academic honors each of the last three seasons.

Liz Webber ’16, Williams College Women’s Soccer
 
After missing her freshman year recovering from an injury, Liz has emerged as a stalwart member of the still-unbeaten Ephs this fall. Liz has started 10 of Williams’ 11 games this year and has posted an assist in two of the three games the Ephs have played since the calendar flipped to October.
 
Now a defensive midfielder, Liz has been part of a defense that has allowed just three goals all season. She scored her first career goal on September 17 against Bowdoin.

Aidan Van Duzer ’17, MIT Football
 
Aidan had a breakout game for the Engineers on October 7 as he rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on a team-high 18 carries in MIT’s 51-7 win over Maine Maritime Academy. He scored his first touchdown late in the third quarter from four yards out and then added his second later in the half, this time from 17 yards away.
 
For the season, Aidan has rushed for 121 yards on 23 carries with two scores for the 5-1 Engineers.

Jamie Navoni ’15, Conn College Field Hockey
 
Jamie posted back-to-back strong performances for the Camels of Conn College, scoring once against Bates and twice against Wellesley College to lift her season total to a team-high seven goals. It marks the second time this season that Jamie has scored in back-to-back games.

Miles Gendron ’14, UConn Men’s Ice Hockey
 
After a strong sophomore season, Miles picked up right where he left off on Saturday as assisted three of the Huskies’ goals in their 5-1 win over Maine. His performance earned him a spot on the Hockey East Weekly Top Performers list.
 
Last year, Miles scored four goals and added seven assists in 36 games while playing exceptional defense.
