Mark Schuster, Class of 1972, was recently reelected to a second term on The Rivers School Board of Trustees. He joined The Rivers School Corporation in 1997 and became a trustee in 1998, serving a five year term until 2004. He has been a member of the Facilities Committee since 1998. He has also served on the Major Gifts Committee, the Committee on Trustees, and the Senior Parents' Giving Committee. He and his wife Audrey were responsible for the refurbishment of the admissions area, the entrance of which has been named Schuster Hall.
Schuster is the founder and president of Bluestone Holdings. Bluestone consists of a group of interrelated companies which have been involved in the management, development, ownership, acquisition and sale of real estate for over 40 years. Bluestone's geographic footprint covers the eastern half of the United States, as well as Texas and Missouri, managing properties located in 14 states. These properties include approximately 13,000 apartment units and 600,000 square feet of office space.
“I have over 25 years of experience in the business and I am personally involved on a daily basis in property management operations and decisions,” said Schuster. “13 million square feet of real estate, 550 employees, 95 properties and 10 offices are all driven by a single philosophy – achieving the investment objectives of both our investors and clients.”
Schuster graduated from Tufts University in 1977 and has served or currently serves on the boards of a number of local education and health institutions, including the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, Tufts University’s Board of Overseers, Tufts University Entrepreneurial Leadership Committee and the President’s Commission of Wheaton College.
The Schusters live in Chestnut Hill and are the parents of Elizabeth, an alumnus of the Class of 2004 who is now attending Tufts University; Nikki, a member of the Class of 2007; and John.
