Rivers Welcomes New Faculty for 2010-2011

The Rivers School welcomes the following teachers, who will be joining the faculty for the 2010-2011 academic year!

The Rivers School welcomes the following teachers, who will be joining the faculty for the 2010-2011 academic year!

 

Aisha Cort will be receiving her Ph.D. in Spanish and Portuguese this December from Emory University, where she has taught several Spanish classes since the fall of 2006. She has an undergraduate degree from Yale University. She is teaching Upper School Spanish at Rivers and will also be the assistant track coach.

 

Rachel Costello served as a Spanish teacher at the Park School this past year. She has also worked as a substitute Spanish teacher at the Shipley School and Independence Charter School. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of New Mexico. She is teaching Middle School Spanish, and will be assisting with the Middle School’s Community Service program.

 

Jennifer Dalton has taught math at Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia for more than a decade, including courses in algebra, calculus, and statistics. She also supervised undergraduate tutors at Widener University. She received her bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University, and her master’s degree and Ph.D. from Bryn Mawr College. She is teaching math at Rivers, and will be the advisor for the math club.

 

Andrea Diaz most recently taught world history at St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, where she was also an assistant soccer coach and the moderator of the Amnesty International club. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Brown University and her master of arts degree from Boston University. She is teaching history at Rivers and is the assistant coach for girls' varsity cross country.

 

Kristin Fabbri has spent the last two years at the St. Mark’s School as a school counselor. She has extensive experience counseling on such topics as eating disorders, and alcohol and drug use. She received her bachelor’s of science from Tufts University, her master’s of arts in counseling psychology at Boston College, and an advanced professional certificate in holistic therapy from Lesley University. She will be the new school counselor at Rivers.

 

Kosta Haralampiev has taught voice and piano at several local organizations, including Happy Music in Wayland and the Hyde Square Task Force, a non-profit for inner-city children in Jamaica Plain. He received his master of music education degree from the Academy of Music and Dance in Bulgaria, and his bachelor of music business/management degree from the Berklee College of Music.

 

Amelia Klein recently received a Ph.D. in English from Harvard University, where she was a teaching fellow who assisted with such lecture courses as Major British Writers I and Elements of Rhetoric. She received her undergraduate degree from Amherst College. She is teaching English and also serving as advisor of “The Rivers Edge.”

 

Lisa Luke has taught art at Hingham High, North Quincy High, and Montclair Elementary School. She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Vermont, and her master of fine arts degree from Boston University. At Rivers she is teaching art, and will serve as co-advisor of the yearbook and the assistant field hockey coach.

 

Kathleen Nicholson has been working as a science intern at Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire since the fall of 2008. She also has taught at Williams Elementary School in Maine and served as Recreation Coordinator at Wolfeboro Camp School in New Hampshire. She received her undergraduate degree from Colby College. She is teaching chemistry and biology, and will be the advisor of the Gay-Straight Alliance.

 

John Silberstein most recently taught 8th grade English at the Dalton School in New York City. He also has more than a decade of experience in the real-estate business. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and a law degree from New York University. He is teaching English, advising, and coaching thirds’ basketball.
