John Krause ’02, a senior forward at Vanderbilt University, is making headlines.
Krause was recently named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading Vanderbilt to a pair of wins last weekend. The Commodores captured the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Soccer Classic tournament championship behind Krause’s four-goal performance in the two games. The Holliston native scored three goals, including the game-winner in overtime against Georgia State and scored the lone goal in Vanderbilt’s 1-0 win over College of Charleston. He was named the tournament’s MVP for his efforts.
Krause, who is among the nation’s leading scorers entering this weekend’s action, was also named to a preseason All-MVC first team pick. He is also listed on College Soccer News National Team of the Week, which highlights the top individual performers of the week from across the country.
Last season at Vanderbilt, Krause was named second team all-League and first team all-Academic, ending the year with a 3.4 grade point average. On the field, he scored 27 points (12 goals, 3 assists), including four game-winners that vaulted him in seventh place in the Vanderbilt record book for points in a season.
At Rivers, Krause scored the lone goal in the Rivers varsity boys’ soccer team’s first-ever Class A New England Championship title, helping to stun the defending champion and undefeated Loomis Chaffee School (Windsor, Conn.) 1-0 in 2001. The win topped a record-breaking season for the team, who also captured its first-ever ISL championship.
