Red Wings Soar on the Playing Fields

Friday night proved once again to be an opportune moment for Rivers’ athletics teams, as girls’ varsity soccer picked up a big 2–0 win under the lights against Governor’s. Jasmine McNish ’26 scored the first goal, assisted by Abby Lorion ’25, while Molly Hazard ’26 scored off a feed from Ella Kaufman ’24 for the second goal. Ali Shure ’25 had the shutout in goal.

On Saturday, varsity field hockey battled Governor’s to a 1–1 tie, to move to 3–1–1 on the season. Parker Fryberger ’26 scored the lone goal. Also on Saturday, boys’ varsity soccer took  down Governor’s 8–3,  to move to 4–1 on the season. Goals were scored by Keagan Harder ’24 (three), Adam Prince ’24 (two), Charlie Johnson ’24, Arthur Dos Santos ’24, and Jackson Vignati ’25.

The wins continued on Saturday with a victory by varsity volleyball, with the team defeating Governor’s 3–0 to move to 3–0 on the season. Madison Ngai ’25 had 20 assists, while Kate Paquette ’24 had 8 kills and 5 aces.

Finally on Saturday, football moved to 2–0 with a 42–13 win over Groton. Max Stevelman ’24 threw for four TDs—three to Amir Lindsey ’24 and one to Griffin Schutte ’24—while Jalen Morris ’27 added two rushing TDs. The Red Wing defense forced four turnovers on the day, including interceptions from Nate Olson ’25 and Amir Lindsey.

On Monday, girls’ varsity soccer notched their third straight win, defeating Dana Hall 3–1 on the road. Goals were scored by Mattea Herman ’26, assisted by Lauren Simon ’25, Molly Hazard ’26, assisted by Emma Cayer ’26, and Lauren Simon, assisted by Molly Hazard.

Also on Monday, varsity field hockey beat Dana Hall 8–0 to move to 4–1–1 on the season. Goals were scored by Cate Butler ’24, Libby Bowers ’25, Lilly Liebhoff ’25, Brooke Bartlett ’27, Cece L’Esperance ’25, Sophie Rousell ’24, Lindsay Morin ’25, and Morgan Boyce ’25.

Finally, capping a week of wins, boys’ varsity soccer defeated Belmont Hill on Wednesday to move to 5–1 on the season. Goals were scored by Adam Prince ’24, Arthur Dos Santos ’24, and Keagan Harder ’24. And girls’ varsity soccer took down Newton Country Day 2–0, for the team's fourth straight win. Goals were scored by Lauren Simon ’25 and Ella Kaufman ’24. Ali Shure ’25 held it to a shutout in goal.
