Cathy joined the Rivers faculty in the fall of 1999 and is currently the Chair of the Language Department. She teaches Latin in the Middle School to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. She also serves as the 6th grade class dean. Cathy's passion for Latin and Roman culture has led her on overseas trips to visit Roman sites in Italy, Greece, Britain, Portugal, and southern France. She also co-directed the Middle School drama production for eight years. Cathy was the recipient of the Mida van Zuylen Dunn Award for Teaching in 2003 and the F. Ervin Prince Teaching Chair in 2011. She earned her B.A. in Latin and Greek at Vassar College and her M.A.T. in Latin and classical humanities at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Lily Gillett teaches sixth and seventh grade art, coordinates the curriculum for the Middle School Performing and Creative Arts course, and teaches a unit on theater set design. She will also be a Middle School advisor and coach Middle School field hockey and lacrosse. She has a bachelor’s in studio art with a minor in arts and education from William Smith College, where she played varsity field hockey. Lily was an art teacher and field hockey coach at the Bullis School in Maryland before coming to Rivers and served as the art department chair there for two years.
Josh has taught science at the Middle School since 2000. In addition, Josh coaches boys’ Middle School ice hockey and serves on the Leadership Committee. Before coming to Rivers, Josh taught at Milton Academy. He earned a B.A. in philosophy from University of New Hampshire and a B.S. in biology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Mathematics, Grade 9 Dean, Varsity Softball Head Coach
Keith has been teaching math most recently at Arlington Catholic, while also serving over the last three years as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Tufts University. Keith’s teaching career started in boarding schools, as he began right out of college at Williston Northampton School, then moved on to Trinity Pawling in New York. Both schools sing his praises as an outstanding teacher and mentor to students, known for going the extra mile for his students and players. Keith held the position of varsity basketball coach in both schools, and his former Athletic Directors rave about what he brought to the role in both schools. Keith has also worked with local foundations serving underprivileged kids in his time with Tufts, working at both the 3-Point Foundation and Hoop Mountain camps. Keith earned his B.A. in economics from Amherst College, where he also played four years of varsity basketball and captained the golf team. He later earned his M.A. in teaching from Tufts.
Victoria Mizzi joined the Mathematics Department in 2016 after teaching the IB math curriculum at the International School of Boston, IB World School. Prior to that, she worked at the Washington International School, IB World School in Washington, DC where she also served as department chair. Victoria received both a bachelor of education and a bachelor of science degree from Queen’s University. She was a Project Zero Classroom participant at Harvard Graduate School of Education. Victoria will teach math in the Upper School, including multivariable calculus, advise, and coach.
Assistant Director of Athletics, US Assistant Dean of Students, Grade 12 Dean, Varsity Girls’ Soccer
Susanna has been Assistant Dean of Students at Rivers since 2000. She also serves as the 12h grade dean and, as an Assistant Athletic Director, organizes the annual Rivers Holiday Basketball Tournament. In addition, Susanna is the head coach for the girls’ varsity soccer and lacrosse teams. She has previously coached soccer at Boston College and Brown University. She graduated with a B.A. in human development from Boston University.
