Parent DEI/Caregiver Book Club

Campus Center - Kraft Dining Hall - Din. Hall
The DEI office is excited to start a book club for our parent/caregiver community. To build on last year's work around race, we’ve selected The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together by Heather McGhee as this year’s text. Longlisted for the National Book Award, The Sum of Us is a powerful exploration of both racial and socioeconomic inequality in America. In his praise for the text, author George Saunders noted that “if everyone in America read this book, we’d be, not only a more just country, but a more powerful, successful, and loving one. A vital, urgent, stirring, beautifully written book that offers a compassionate roadmap out of our present troubled moment.”

We will convene three times between February and April, gathering as a large group first and then breaking into smaller groups to discuss the text. The DEI office will provide discussion questions and guidance for each of the book discussions.

Tuesday, February 22,  6:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Community event and welcome. Click here to register.
Thursday, March 24, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Book discussion #1
