tc Hanmer joined Rivers after several years of teaching high school English, most recently at Pomfret School. In addition to teaching Upper School English, they serve as an advisor and are the head coach for the varsity softball team. tc earned their BA in Afro- American Studies and English at Smith College and graduated from Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English with an MA in English. Outside of school, tc is an avid reader, a music lover, and a movie buff.

Kristin Harder came to Rivers in 2003 and has held many roles in her time at the school, including math department chair and girls' varsity hockey coach. She currently teaches Upper School math, serves as an Upper School course counselor, and advises in the Upper School. Prior to arriving at Rivers, Kristin taught at Belmont Hill, Choate Rosemary Hall, and Concord Academy, where she also held roles in admission and college counseling.  She holds a B.A. from Williams College and a M.A.L.S. (with a concentration in Mathematics) from Dartmouth College.

Teresa has a BA in communication from Westfield State University and an MS in Communication from Lasell University. Before coming to Rivers, Teresa worked in development at Wellesley College for eight years. At Rivers, Teresa leads the stewardship program, thanking and engaging our generous donors. Teresa lives on the South Shore with her husband and daughter. In her free time, she loves to read and travel.

Sarah Freeman is the Middle School dean of students, teaches science in the Middle School, and serves as a Middle School advisor. She has a BS from Bowdoin College, where she majored in biology and minored in education studies, and a MA in independent school leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College. Sarah assistant coaches girls' varsity field hockey and coaches Middle School girls' lacrosse.

Katie Henderson has a BA in English and communications as well as an MEd in secondary education in English from the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently a candidate for a doctorate from the University of Minnesota, where she has served as supervisor of student teaching. Previously, Katie taught English at the Woodside Priory School. She teaches Upper School English and is an assistant coach for the girls’ cross-country team.

Deb Herrmann joined Rivers after spending 19 years running her own mathematics tutoring business for students at all levels of high school. In addition, she taught several math courses at Dana Hall in a part-time role. She has a background in financial analysis and auditing. Deb holds an MBA and an MS in accounting from Northeastern University and a BA from the University of Vermont in economics and mathematics.

Nick graduated from Brown University with a BS in environmental science and has completed both an MSEd in middle school education at Hunter College and, most recently, a PhD in biology from Harvard University. Nick has experience teaching and designing science curricula at both the middle school and college levels. While at Harvard, he served as a teaching fellow in several undergraduate courses and taught high school students through an outreach program. He was the recipient of Harvard’s Bok Center Teaching Award in 2018.

Coach Hudson comes to Rivers from Westford Academy, where he served as the head coach. Prior to that, he spent time as the Offensive Coordinator at UMass Lowell, as well as the Director of Lacrosse Operations at UNC. He also served as an assistant coach at both Western New England University and Springfield College. Coach Hudson also works extensively with 3d Lacrosse, serving in a variety of roles.

Jennie Hutton Jacoby joined the English department in 1995 and currently teaches eleventh and twelfth grade English in addition to running faculty evaluations. Before coming to Rivers, Jennie taught at the Breck School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and The Cincinnati Country Day School in Ohio. Jennie was the recipient of the Mida Van Zuylen Dunn Award for teaching in 2000, and in 2011, she was selected to join the Berwind Circle of teachers. She also serves on the Cum Laude Society Selection Committee. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from Kenyon College.
