Four Rivers Teams Qualify For NEPSAC New England Championship Tournaments
The winter season will continue this week with four Rivers varsity teams competing in NEPSAC New England Championship Tournaments.
The winter season will continue this week with four Rivers varsity teams competing in NEPSAC New England Championship Tournaments. First-round games will take place on Wednesday Feb. 26 at Rivers with winners advancing to semifinal games on Saturday.
Varsity girls’ hockey earned the No. 1 seed in the NEPSAC New England Division II Tournament after a 17-4-1 season. The girls will host No. 8 Berwick Academy in MacDowell Arena on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
Varsity girls’ basketball earned the No. 3 seed in the NEPSAC New England Class A Tournament after completing a 21-2 regular season. The girls will host No. 6 Marianapolis Preparatory School on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in Benson Gymnasium in a rematch of a Feb. 2 game won by Rivers, 53-47.
Varsity boys’ hockey will be the No. 3 seed in the NEPSAC New England Piatelli/Simmons Tournament after a 16-9-1 season that included an ISL Eberhart Division championship. The Red Wings will host Eberhart rival No. 6 Brooks on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. in MacDowell Arena.
Varsity boys’ basketball will be the No. 3 seed in the NEPSAC New England Class B Tournament after a 20-3 regular season and ISL Championship. The boys’ will host No. 6 Suffield Academy, the defending Class B champions, on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. in Benson Gymnasium.
