Big Band Earns Gold at MAJE Senior Districts

On Wednesday night the Rivers Big Band competed at the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education (MAJE) Central Senior District Big Band Competition at Nipmunc High School and played an outstanding set, earning the only Gold medal awarded at the competition.
On Wednesday night the Rivers Big Band competed at the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education (MAJE) Central Senior District Big Band Competition at Nipmuc High School and played an outstanding set, earning the only Gold medal awarded at the competition. The result qualifies the Big Band for the State Finals, which will be held on March 29 at Framingham High School.
 
Jamie Juviler ’14, James Hotchkiss ’14, and Richard Oates ’14 each received Outstanding Musician awards with Richard also earning MVP honors for the whole competition! Joseph Nedder ’18 joined the Big Band for the competition and his performance as the third trombone gave the band a slightly different sound that helped earn the ensemble its place atop the district.
