Ned Parsons Speaks to NBC Boston about Reopening Plans

Head of School Ned Parsons was recently interviewed by NBC Boston reporter Brian Shactman on plans to reopen the school. In the 30-minute segment, Parsons answered questions about how schools can best proceed in these challenging times.
The wide-ranging interview covered topics from testing to curriculum to Independent School League rivalries. Shactman wondered about the social-emotional well-being of students, and Parsons’s response points to the compelling reasons Rivers will reopen for in-person learning this fall.

“Educators everywhere are very concerned… Children need to be in school; they need to be in social environments; they need to be pushed and supported as they learn,” he said, adding, “As we learned this spring, being holed up at home and trying to learn on computers is just not the same.”
