  • CIVIC LEADERSHIP INTERNSHIPS

    Students may apply to serve as a Civic Leadership Intern in their senior year.  Throughout the school year, interns will manage the Student Advisory Board for the CCCE as well as develop and implement programming on and off campus.  The Director serves as a mentor for a civic action project planned and implemented by each intern.
  • CURRENT EVENTS ASSEMBLIES & FORUMS

    With the support of the Civic Leadership Interns and the Student Advisory Board, the CCCE hosts debates, current events forums and assemblies that educate the community on contemporary issues and controversies.
  • ACTION CIVICS PROJECTS

    The CCCE supports individual student projects as well as the eighth grade Humanities ‘Systems of Social Justice and Injustice’ projects and those twelfth grade Senior Projects oriented towards civic engagement.
  • STUDENT CLUBS

    Several student clubs at Rivers develop the communication and problem-solving skills that underlie civic engagement: the Debate Club, the Model United Nations Club, The Bioethics Club, and the Ethics Bowl Team.
  • STUDENT CONFERENCES

    The CCCE, the Service Learning program and the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion office encourage student participation in several conferences that Rivers supports and attends on an annual basis, such as Women2Women, Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC), the Care International Conference.
