Developing Empathy and Understanding

Rivers is committed to raising the awareness of the school community about issues of gender identity.  Continued awareness raising makes for a most inclusive community. We believe each child should be able to bring their whole selves to school every day regardless of their gender identity.

Gender Identity Policy

In keeping with its commitment to creating a diverse, inclusive and socially responsible community, Rivers has adopted a policy that aims to reduce the stigmatization and facilitate the integration of transgender and gender nonconforming individuals, while maintaining the privacy of all individuals and their families and fostering cultural competence for the larger Rivers community.
