The Rivers Technology Department is committed to providing reliable network access to the Internet and to the RiversNet (Intranet). We provide wired and/or wireless network access in all classrooms, labs, library spaces, and offices. Through the network, we also provide e-mail and file storage for all users. In addition the Technology Department provides the tools and support necessary to members of The Rivers community to facilitate communication, teaching, and learning.
Computers for Student Use
There are over 200 computers on campus available for student use, 60% of which are Apple Macintosh and 40% IBM/Lenovo machines. All computers have Microsoft Office ( MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), Adobe Reader, Inspiration, Firefox browser and Canon Scanning Toolbox software installed. In addition to the software applications mentioned above Macintosh computers have Adobe’s Creative Suite 3, Ilife08 and Final Cut Express installed.

Library Laptops
The Library has 42 Laptops available to be checked out with additional Macintosh and IBM Desktops located throughout the library.

Computer Lab
The Rivers Leeder Computer Center is equipped with 16 Macintosh computers, 2 scanners, 1 networked color and one networked black and white printer. The Leeder center is open and available for student use during the school day.

Classroom Computer Access
The Art, Science, Mathematics, Language, Drama/Film, and Music Departments have a total of 70 classroom-dedicated computers. The Rivers Middle School has 34 Macintosh laptops exclusively for use by grades 6-8.

Wireless Access
Rivers presently supports the 802.11g wireless protocol and has 18 wireless access points located in all academic buildings to provide wireless network access for students and faculty.

Each academic department has a least one networked printer. Students have direct access to 9 printers (2 color) located throughout campus in which to print assignments.

RiversNet (Intranet)
RiversNet is our web-based community which provides Rivers faculty, staff, and students access to e-mail, messages, and announcements. It includes an “Academics” section for teachers to share class assignments, projects, syllabi, journals, and more. Students, parents, faculty, staff, coaches and alumni have access to dedicated sites on RiversNet that facilitate communication between and amongst the members of The Rivers School Community. Rivers community members may access RiversNet through The Rivers School web page.

95% of the classrooms on campus are equipped with multimedia presentation devices allowing teachers and students the ability to project presentations, movies slideshows, artwork, and other media electronically.

Personal Data Storage Devices
The Technology department encourages the use USB Keys or External hard drives for the transport and storage of projects and assignments.
