The Middle School Select Chorus joined over 1,000 other musicians at Six Flags New England in Agawam, Mass. on Saturday, May 17 for the 2014 Music in the Parks Festival. The chorus performed three songs, placed second in its division, and received an “excellent” rating from the competition’s judges.

The songs chosen by the chorus were “I’m a Believer” by The Monkees, “Can You Hear” by Jim Papoulis, and “Shadowland” from The Lion King Musical.

"It's a unique opportunity for the kids to get feedback on their performance from someone other than me,” said Chorus Director John Bower. “They did an incredible job and I couldn't have been more proud of their efforts!"

Following their performance, the students were able to enjoy Six Flags for the remainder of the day. The Bizarro rollercoaster, one of the top-ranked rides in the world, was one of the highlights for many of the students, coming in just ahead of the park’s delicious funnel cake and fried dough.
