At the Massachusetts semi-finals of the National Shakespeare Competition Saturday, Matt Tanner ’12 was one of ten students selected from a field of 31 to advance to next week’s state finals. Students performed a twenty-line monologue and a sonnet at the competition, which is organized by the English-Speaking Union of the United States (ESU).

Tanner will perform at the state finals taking place Sunday, February 7th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Tufte Performance Center at Emerson College. The Boston winner will represent the Boston ESU at the ESU’s National Shakespeare Competition at New York’s Lincoln Center in April, competing with over 60 branch winners from around the country.
