The aim of the Wellness program at Rivers is to promote health and minimize behaviors that put students at risk. The belief that successful prevention supports those students already making healthy choices is central to the program’s mission. Therefore, following the school’s belief in “excellence with humanity,” students are motivated to discover and value their self-worth and purpose in the broader community. Wellness courses, offered in grades 6-12, encourage students to integrate accurate information with personal values. Wellness programs also work to facilitate partnerships between the adults in the community, including parents and faculty, in order to support students on an individual level.
