Brooke Heinsohn '16 Named to U-18 National Team For Upcoming Training Camp

Rivers senior goalkeeper Brooke Heinsohn ’16 was named to the United States U-18 Women’s Soccer National Team for an upcoming training camp in Mexico City, where they will play two games against Mexico’s U-20 Women’s National Team.

The training camp will take place from August 8-16 with the games being played on August 13 and 15 in Mexico City. All 20 players that were named to the roster were born in 1998 and this trip starts the group’s push to qualify for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France.

Brooke is one of two goalkeepers and one of just two players from New England to be selected for this training camp, the other being a forward from Connecticut. She has been training with the USWNT since the spring when she attended a training camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.

Brooke helped lead her club team, NEFC, to a national championship this summer. NEFC topped PDA South 96 Force from New Jersey, 5-2, at the National Premier Leagues National Finals in Westford, Indiana. You can watch the full game here.

In addition to this accomplishment, Brooke and classmate Liz Webber ’16 were named to the national watch list for the 2015 High School Soccer All American Game, which will be played on December 5 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Both Brooke and Liz were National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region and All-State players in 2014, while Liz also earned All-American distinction.

Jacob Harris ’16 was named to the watch list on the boys’ side, following in the footsteps of Trevor Davock ’15 who played in the 2014 contest.
