Vytas Baksys, Rivers School Conservatory accompanist and pianist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, will present his "Anti-Musica", a not-to-miss concert of musical humor on Sunday, June 1st at 7:00 pm in Rivera Hall.

In a style reminiscent of Victor Borge, Baksys will delight audience members of all ages with his inventive humor and remarkable musical talents.  Works to be featured include pieces by PDQ Bach.

In addition to working with RSC students, Baksys has performed with musicians such as Yo Yo Ma, Gil Shaham, Arthur Fiedler, Leonard Bernstein, film composer John Williams, and Seiji Ozawa, among others.  A former student of A. Ramon Rivera, Baksys has written several short piano pieces, a piano concerto, a piano quintet, two microtonal works, and an Oratorio for Groundhog's Day.

Baksys serves as pianist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra and for the Tanglewood Fellowship Conducting Program.  He is a member of the Concord Chamber Players and the Boston Symphony Chamber Players.  He is a former member of Boston Musica Viva and Boston Secession.

Molly Pearson, an eighth grader at Pollard Middle School in Needham, and member of The Rivers School Conservatory Capriccio Chorus was selected to participate in the American Choral Director’s Association Eastern Division Junior High Honor’s Choir. This choir selected 150 student vocalists, by audition, from ten Northeastern States and the District of Columbia. The choir, under the direction of Anthony Sears, performed last month at the 2008 Eastern Division ACDA Convention in Hartford, Connecticut. Molly was also selected to participate in the Eastern Junior District Music Festival which takes place March 8^th.
